Most people have heard of a library, they understand the concept of the book and what they are supposed to do when they enter a library in order to find what they are looking for. Such an understanding of an archives – what it is, how to use it and its significance – is unfortunately not information commonly held by most people.

This lib-guide was written for those of you (and you know who you are!) who don’t know the first thing about an archives and were too afraid to ask! Welcome to the guide to “Using Archival Material” developed by your friendly neighbourhood Archivist!
